My work focuses on end-to-end industrial design ownership: shaping what the product is and why it exists, then seeing that through to production.
Having worked in-house throughout my career, I see constraints and trade-offs as inputs to the design process. Recognising them early allows the design intent to hold up against commercial and technical realities, instead of being dictated by them.
I don't see design craft and business aspirations as mutually exclusive, but balancing them requires judgement and pragmatism. Owning the early-stage definition is what makes that judgement possible later: when you have shaped why something exists, you know what matters, and where to compromise.
Staying involved through the latter stages holds the intent intact. It also compounds. The unknown limitations faced in one project become known when the next starts. This compounding strengthens the design phase by surfacing likely challenges early and ensuring what we decide to build can be built.
Working with constraints, rather than against them, is what makes it possible to design products that are both commercially sound and worth making.
